What You Can Do

  • Follow up with your healthcare provider. Learn more about how to keep yourself healthy before you start treatment, and also while you going through it.

  • Avoid things that can make your condition worse. Drinking alcohol makes you more likely to have health problems related to HCV. You may also need to avoid taking certain medicines and supplements.

  • Protect others from becoming infected. Learn how the virus spreads from one person to another. Then take steps to keep from spreading the virus to people around you.
