Living With...Delirium

The Importance of Preventing and Treating Delirium - VHL HealthSheet #41421_VA
Delirium is a sudden change in a person’s mental state. It causes problems with attention, thinking, memory, and emotion.
How to Help Prevent Delirium - VHL HealthSheet #41425_VA
If you have a friend or family member who is at risk for delirium, you can do things to help. There is no guarantee that these measures will prevent delirium. Delirium is not preventable in more than 50% of people. That’s because sometimes delirium results from infections, medicines, or other causes that a healthcare provider must address. But they may reduce risk. It may take days, weeks, or even months for delirium to go away, so prevention is important. In some cases, a person may not fully recover.
